“There's something magical still about it when I get in a darkroom, and you've shot a roll of film and you develop it and you look at your negatives, and there's, like, imagery there. That always stuns me”
-Jessica Lange
I took my first film photography class at Cabrillo college in Aptos 2017 and I fell in love with the magical experience of developing photos since the very first day I stepped into that darkroom .
I love the unexpected imperfections in film. There seems to be more depth added to the story through textures, light leaks, and the color variation from real life that the film photos have.
Shooting in film is truly an art form and the sweet nostalgia that the film photos give you is beyond compare.
Film photography is a long process and makes me always appreciate every frame I take. Although I don’t develop or print my own photos anymore waiting for my film to come back from the lab is like waiting for Christmas Day when you were a child.
